Hurricane Thane has hit Auroville in south India on the 30th of December. More than 500,000 (half a million) trees have fallen due to the high speed winds. The roads were blocked for days and access was only possible by scrambling over fallen trees. Now we have managed to clear the major roads and paths of trees. We are working everyday to clear the electric lines and schools. We are running out of water and have to use generators where we can to pump water. The forests will be our next point of focus. We need all the help we can get.
